Diagnosis and Maintenance of Guided Transport Systems

Group coordination: Patrice AKNIN

PURPOSES

The guided transports, and specially railway systems, are in a particular phase of their evolution. The manufacturers, as well as operators, are in a hard competition context, and moreover the infrastructure management and operating administration are separate. In this technical and economical context, the maintenance policies could integrate some drastic changes: the main purpose becomes to send the good maintenance team at the right place, at the right moment. This allows cost reduction, the shortest track immobilization, while assuring high safety level of the complete system.

Some news accurate devices are required in order to diagnose degradations, with the help of advanced decision procedures. The availability of new mesuring systems that include high storage and processing capacities allows the development of automatic or semi-automatic diagnosis procedures. Futhermore, the operators expertise is completed by informations extracted from these database during feedback from experiments. The higher electronic integration, the strength of dedicated processors, new sensors technologies, fast real time algorithms, can be integrated into technological "bricks" for new transportation systems designers.

For several years, Diagnosis and Maintenance group of LTN laboratory intensifies its activities on these kind of projects. The main concerning domains consist of Signal processing, Pattern Recognition, Diagnosis, Statistics and Reliability
